Eleanorisms

Tonight at dinner. Eleanor points at Mommy's teeth. "New teeth Mommy."

Mommy says, "No these are my same old teeth. Eleanor has baby teeth. Someday they'll get wiggly and fall out and you'll get adult teeth."

"Gold." Says Eleanor.

"Gold?" Asks mommy.

"Gold teeth George."

Mommy realizes she's referring to a George and Martha story where George trips on the sidewalk and looses a tooth, and it is replaced with a gold one. Eleanor seemed disappointed to hear that her new teeth would just be plain white.
________

At breakfast Eleanor observes, "Eleanor big girl."

"Yes you are," I say.

"Mommy big woman."

Mommy begins to choke on her coffee.

"May May big woman," finishes Eleanor.

Since 'May May' means Gracie May, our very petite cat, Mommy can relax a little.
__________

Eleanor points to her framed painting on the wall, "I be artist."
__________

Eleanor's new way of declaring ownership, "Mine's."

As in, "No mommy, is mine's."
__________

At lunch the other day we were looking out the window at a sunny day.

"See clouds." Says Eleanor.

"Yes, they're cumulous clouds Eleanor, white and fluffy."

"Yes, Daddy shape."

"What?"

"See Daddy shape cloud."

"Oh! You see a cloud that looks like a daddy shape." She has a book with images of Bert cloud-gazing.

"Mommy cloud, Eleanor too."
__________

Eleanor is offered a bottle of milk, which is typically a treat offered to her when she's sick (to try to get liquids down).

"Eleanor no needs bottles anymore. Eleanor not a baby."

And there you have it!
__________

P.s. Eleanor is obsessed and terrified of ants. When she sees one in the house, she looses it. Daddy told her they live outside and are simply lost when they're in the house. Today on our walk, she pointed to the ground over and over and said, "Ant's home."
